Supported 3D model formats

Drapery Reveal accepts six public model formats. The geometry may load successfully while materials behave differently, so format choice matters before you record.

GLB — recommended

GLB can package geometry, materials, and textures in one file, which makes it the safest handoff into a browser workflow.

GLTF

A self-contained GLTF can work, but the current one-file picker does not gather companion .bin files and texture folders. Use GLB when a GLTF relies on separate resources.

OBJ

OBJ geometry is accepted. The current workflow does not load an accompanying MTL file, so original OBJ materials should not be assumed.

FBX

FBX geometry and embedded information may load, but external texture dependencies are not guaranteed. Inspect the model in the editor before recording.

STL

STL is geometry-focused and does not carry a complete rendered material appearance. Drapery Reveal assigns a general scene material for presentation.

3MF

3MF files are accepted. Because authoring tools package 3MF data differently, verify geometry and appearance in the browser before committing to a recording.

Not advertised as public support

STEP and STP are not included in the public file picker and are not promised as supported formats, even if experimental code exists in the project.

Which format is safest?

GLB is the safest option because it can package geometry, materials, and textures in a single file.

Why did my texture not appear?

The source format may reference a companion material or texture file that is not embedded. Convert the asset to a self-contained GLB and test again.

Is STEP supported?

No. STEP and STP are not currently advertised or available in the public file picker.
