Decide whether a focused workflow fits the job
A general 3D package is valuable because it can model, rig, animate, simulate, render, composite, and edit many kinds of scenes. That breadth also means a short product reveal can require project setup, physics configuration, camera work, render settings, codecs, and a final export pipeline before the first usable draft.
Drapery Reveal narrows the problem. It is designed around importing one product model, covering it with simulated cloth, choosing how the cloth pulls away, and recording the result. That makes it suitable for launch teasers, concept presentations, portfolio moments, and product-page motion where a cloth unveiling is the central idea.
It is not a replacement for a general animation suite. Choose the browser workflow when the focused reveal matches the brief; choose a full desktop pipeline when the project needs custom keyframes, character or camera rigs, complex environments, audio editing, compositing, or simulation beyond the product drape.
Prepare a browser-ready model
Export the cleanest asset you have. GLB is usually the easiest handoff because one file can contain geometry, materials, and textures. A self-contained GLTF can also work. OBJ is imported without an MTL material workflow, STL is geometry-only, and external FBX textures are not guaranteed, so those formats may need a general material applied after import. 3MF is also accepted and should be visually checked.
Remove geometry the camera will never see, repair disconnected pieces, and confirm that the intended hero side is easy to recognize. The editor centers the object and normalizes its longest dimension for the reveal scene, so you do not need to preserve an exact real-world scene scale. You do need a clean silhouette and geometry that can interact sensibly with cloth.
During normal use the source model is processed locally in the browser. Rendered media may be sent to the service when you save or convert an output, but the workflow does not normally upload the original 3D source.
Build the shot in a deliberate order
Import and inspect the model first. Set the surface and background next, then establish the camera angle and lighting before adjusting fabric physics. Working in that order prevents you from solving simulation details that the final camera will never show.
Add the cloth and choose its color or texture, size, and quality. Adjust the pull direction, speed, height, and distance around the product. Use collider resolution and cloth detail only where the preview shows a visible need. A simple form may reveal cleanly with modest settings, while handles, fins, open frames, and narrow gaps can require more care.
Preview the entire sequence. Make sure the opening shape is interesting, the cloth begins moving soon enough, and the final product has a clean hold. If the drape catches or intersects, try a different path or initial coverage before pushing every quality control higher.
- Import and inspect the model.
- Set surface, background, camera, and light.
- Drape the product and choose a pull path.
- Preview collisions and the final resting cloth.
- Record only after the complete motion is stable.
Use the controls that matter to the final frame
The browser editor exposes the practical controls for a reveal: product and cloth materials, cloth size and quality, collider resolution, pull speed and direction, pull height and distance, main light and shadow direction, global illumination, surface visibility, and camera orbit, pan, and zoom.
That is enough to create many focused unveiling shots, but it intentionally leaves out a general keyframe timeline and audio editor. Instead of building a long sequence inside one project, create the reveal as a clean visual clip and combine it with titles, narration, or a campaign edit in the video tool your team already uses.
Keep changes connected to the output. If the product is small in a vertical frame, extra cloth subdivision may not be visible. If the model has a reflective finish, a lighting adjustment may improve the result more than denser simulation.
Know what remains browser-dependent
Real-time cloth and recording depend on the device and browser. A high-detail scene may play differently on a powerful desktop and a phone. Test the actual production setup, and reduce cloth or collider detail when smooth, predictable motion matters more than subtle folds.
Recording requires an account. MP4 output is available on supported current browsers rather than guaranteed everywhere. Choose from 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10-second durations and verify the downloaded file before publishing. The vertical, portrait, square, and landscape share presets are crops and resizes of the recording, so important details still need safe framing.
The editor works with touch input, but the detailed scene controls are easier to manage with more screen space; portrait mobile users are encouraged to rotate to landscape. Marketing pages remain fully readable in portrait even though the creator benefits from the wider layout.
Choose Blender when the story is larger than the reveal
Use a full 3D application when you need art-directed cloth pinning, multiple interacting simulations, custom animation curves, camera moves synchronized to other objects, motion graphics, compositing passes, transparent-background rendering, or detailed control over a production renderer. Those are different requirements, not failures of a focused browser tool.
Blender is also the better place to repair geometry, unwrap UVs, author materials, bake simulations, or optimize an asset before export. Drapery Reveal begins with a model that is already ready to present; it is not intended to replace modeling and asset-preparation work.
A practical hybrid workflow is often best: prepare or repair the model in the team's existing 3D software, export a self-contained GLB, then create and iterate on the cloth reveal in the browser. This keeps specialized asset work where it belongs while shortening the path from an approved model to a campaign-ready clip.
Finish with the destination in mind
Frame and record for the placement that matters most, then review the output on that device. A reveal for a product page may need a wide, calm final composition. A short-form teaser may need immediate cloth motion and a larger product in a vertical frame.
The best no-Blender workflow is not defined by avoiding software for its own sake. It is defined by matching the production method to the brief. If the assignment is a controlled cloth unveiling from an existing model, a focused browser tool can remove setup and handoff work while still giving the product a deliberate entrance.
